I know it can be a challenge finding math activities that keep our student’s attention while providing rigor. Math can be a challenge for some students, but when they leave my classroom they love Math. When teaching fun winter activities using Boom Cards, students are always engaged and involved in the lesson. There is no sitting back being confused, but all students are answering questions through interactive cards. Additionally, Boom Cards self-grade, so students won’t complete an entire lesson only to find out they answered everything incorrectly. The card will tell them if they are correct or incorrect and if incorrect, they can even try again. Boom Cards will greatly increase student engagement and depth of knowledge!
Winter Activities Expanded Form Addition
While addition may begin with 1 + 1 or 2 + 2, it quickly becomes more complex. When learning expanded form, students are no longer just adding numbers together. They have to know the place value behind each digit in order to solve the problem.
I created these festive winter activities in order to help bring learning alive while allowing students to receive instant feedback. In Expanded Form Addition Version 1, there are 20 cards that will allow students to fill in the blanks to expand the numbers before adding together with festive designs, such as coffee, snowflakes, and snowballs. Additionally, students will have multiple choice questions where they have to solve equations using the expanded with cute winter bears.
Since I know your students will LOVE Boom Cards, there is also Version 2 and Version 3. Each deck has 15 slides and will involve fill in the blank and multiple-choice activities. Specifically, students will fill in the blanks to expand the numbers and then add them together in a variety of fun winter themes. Additionally, students will select the correct equation using expanded form. These Booms Cards are all interactive and engaging, so students will have so much fun while practicing addition utilizing the expanded form!
If your students love Boom Cards like mine do, the Winter Boom Card Bundle will be the perfect resource to buy! It includes all three versions described above but with a discounted price. By purchasing the bundle, there will be 50 cards for the students to practice the expansion strategy of addition. This practice is sure to help students gain full confidence with this complex content!

Playing with snowballs can be so much fun! The love of snow and numbers comes together in this 30 card deck. Students will compare numbers within 1,000 through several engaging activities. Comparing numbers will be a breeze after these interactive cards!
Winter Activities for Counting Quarters
Children love money! As they get older, they also gain more independence with earning and spending what they have. These 30 cards will greatly help students learn how to count quarters! After identifying the value of the quarters, students will count quarters with snowmen, fill in the table with winter bears by counting in 25 cent intervals, and add the total value of quarters with Mr. Snowman. There are a variety of activities to ensure students gain more comfort while counting one of the favorite coins.
2D and 3D Shapes
Geometry can be so hard to learn! Between complicated shapes names and how the same shape can appear in different dimensions, students can become stressed. However, these 30 cards will help students learn 2D and 3D shapes in fun winter designs. Additionally, they will also determine how many sides the figures have and work on word problems. Geometry won’t be so overwhelming when students are having fun with Mr. Snowman and his friends.
